Jo Garrett

Screenwriter • Director • Storyboard Artist

Jo Garrett is a versatile screenwriter, director, and storyboard artist who brings a rich tapestry of experiences to storytelling. Growing up in a military family, she moved nearly every year, gaining an early understanding of how to observe and step into new worlds. Today, in raising a multicultural family through adoption, she understands how identity and connection can be shaped in unexpected ways. These experiences are at the heart of her writing, guiding her toward stories that explore diversity, resilience, and belonging across multiple genres.

From her early years as a singer-songwriter, Jo learned how to create momentum with rhythm, tone, and structure. Her work as an illustrator and storyboard artist gave her a strong foundation in imagery. Screenwriting became the place where these elements fused. Together, they inform her belief that storytelling is not just craft but alchemy—turning fragments of lived experience and imagination into narratives with emotional impact. She also offers script consulting and pitch deck design services,  collaborating with screenwriters to refine both story and presentation.

As a multidisciplinary artist, Jo’s talents extend across various mediums. She was awarded a Screenwriting Grant in 2023 for her action thriller “Low Tide,” and again in 2026 for her psychological thriller “Closure.” Her horror-comedy screenplay, “Bah Humbug” has received Top 5 Finalist, Semi-Finalist, and Honorable Mention placements. She storyboarded and associate produced Lunavox’s “What’s Locked Behind That Door” music video, which won a Global Music Award, a Best Music Video Award, and several Finalist placements. Her notable illustration projects include storyboards for the special edition DVD releases of movies “Slither,” “Black Snake Moan,” “The Invasion,” and Rob Zombie’s “Halloween,” as well as concept art for U2’s “Origin of the Species” music video. Her jewelry designs have been featured in “The Vampire Diaries,” “Charmed,” “Bloodline,” Hallmark’s “A Christmas Melody,” MTV Movie Award swag bags, and various magazines and newspapers, further showcasing her versatile artistry. In each artistic endeavor, Jo infuses her unique blend of creativity, heart and authenticity.
